I really struggled with hair too, until I did my own Luna portrait, and it forced me to learn some things. I've read a ton of tutorials, and you can find many here on DA or Google just by searching for hair tutorials.
Also found this video on youtube, and it seems to have helped, because I started to get the "hang" of hair afterwards. Videos are good for that, because you see the other artist at work.

These may be a little obvious to you, but I'll say them anyway: some good tips are: keep the hair simple! Start by shading in different parts of the hair and pay attention only to shapes. Use an eraser to take out the highlights of the hair (you can sharpen them with a knife to a fairly fine point). Try not to overdo the lines/highlights. A few well placed ones are better than too many.
